Course Description

This course introduces you to the concept of statesmanship and various models for policy analysis. You will be introduced to the various contexts in which policy formation and implementation occur. You will be challenged to view policy from Biblical, constitutional, and political lenses in order to understand a comprehensive approach to policy development and implementation.

Rationale

As the first course in the Program, it is important to lay a foundation for a Biblical, constitutional perspective on public policy and policy analysis. Biblical perspectives on constitutionalism, domestic policy, and foreign policy will be discussed, and you will be challenged to articulate a model of statesmanship based upon key principles found therein.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Synthesize Biblical principles of government and history with the current public policy arena.
  2. Synthesize a Biblical model of statesmanship to the policy arena.
  3. Examine policy issues in light of Biblical, constitutional, and political lenses.
  4. Create a comprehensive paradigm for addressing policy issues.

Discussions (5)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences.  You are required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion and must reply to two other classmates’ threads. 

Annotated Bibliography Assignment

You will prepare an Annotated Bibliography of at least ten peer-reviewed academic sources that are relevant to a research topic of interest.

Journal Article Review Assignment

You will prepare a Journal Article Review of one peer-reviewed academic source that is relevant to a research topic of interest. This Review will be at least four pages in length, and will follow current Turabian format.

Literature Assessment Assignment

You will prepare a Literature Assessment covering at least ten peer-reviewed academic sources that are relevant to a research topic of interest. This Assessment will be at least eight pages of content in length.
