Course Description

This course covers the structure and operation of the U.S. and international financial systems, functions of the Federal Reserve, monetary theory, and the impact of monetary policy on financial markets and the economy.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 8 Discussions in this course. The student must post 1 thread of at least 250 words. Each thread must contain any 2 questions you choose to answer from the “Things to Think About” section found in the assigned Cowan reading for each Module: Week. The student must post also 2 replies of at least 150 words.

Wall Street Journal Article Review Assignments (3)

Throughout the course, the student will choose, read, and review articles from the Wall Street Journal that cover 5 of 12 possible topics. A separate article must be used for each different topic chosen. A resource will be provided in the course directing the student on how to access the Wall Street Journal through the Jerry Falwell Library.

The student will complete 4 quizzes throughout the course covering the information from the previous and current modules. The quizzes will be open-book/open-notes with 50 multiple-choice questions. Each quiz has a 2-hour time limit.
